Quality KaModel contacts, precisely manufactured,
for locomotive TT Tillig BR 119 (219)
The set includes:
- 8pcs contacts
- 1pc plastic rod for installation 0,8x50mm (pre-drill with 1mm drill)
- 4pcs Rivets 1,3x2,5mm (pre-drill with 1,3mm drill)
Recommended procedure for installing a new KaModel contact
If the contacts come with a plastic rod for attaching the contact, we always recommend using the plastic pin manufacturing method to attach the contact. This is a more gentle procedure with the possibility of additional repairs. Rivets use only in recommended applications where a very tight fit is required. Contact damage often occurs when the rivet is removed again (if a repair is needed). The rivet can be drilled or ground off.
The procedure for attaching the contact using a plastic rod.
1. Cut the plastic "pins" holding the contact with a sharp cutter.
2. Use the original contact as a drilling template and carefully drill all holes with the recommended drill. It is advisable to use the original drilling contact to avoid damaging the new contact when drilling.
3. Stick in the supplied plastic stick with instant glue and cut the other side flat. On the contact side, trim the stick with an overlap of about 1mm to create a new pin.
4. Insert the contact and melt the pin with solder at about 230ºC to create a wider head holding the contact.
5. Re-drill the pre-drilled hole through the already fitted contact to make another pin and repeat the process.
6. If the procedure is not successful the first time, this "operation" can be repeated several times.
7. Watch the sample video with contact replacement.
All tools and accessories for contact assembly can be purchased in our shop in the section "Accessories for spare parts".
In the event that a contact purchased from us is damaged during assembly and needs to be replaced, we offer the customer the option of purchasing the individual contact part. There is no need to buy a whole other set. We provide this service on request. The assembly of contacts is sometimes difficult and that is why we offer this option. The price is set as follows: e.g. Set of 4 pcs / 8.00€. Adding one contact from the set - 2.00€.
